Infos

Daniel Zimmermann, his works are based in the field of visual, film and performing art. They have a strong reference to place and situation and deal with the meaning and sustainability of human action in the form of performance, installation and film and have been showed in numerous cinemas, theaters, museums, galleries and in public spaces. The Kunsthaus Centre d'art Biel CH dedicated 2020 a solo exhibition to him.

Together with choreographer Amanda Piña, he was co-founder and from 2005 to 2019 artistic director of the interdisciplinary performance group nadaproductions, the performance and art space nadaLokal and the Federal Ministry of Movement (BMfB). Their works have been presented in institutions such as the Tanzquartier and Impulstanz Festival in Vienna, the European Dance Platforms, Gessnerallee Zürich, Beursschouwburg and the Kunsten Festival des Arts in Brussels, De Single Antwerpen, Royal Festival Hall London, NAVE and the Festival Santiago a Mil, Chile a.o.

His projects also include films that have been shown at renowned international film festivals. His short films won awards and became film festival favourites. The feature-length film WALDEN (2018) won the Jury Prize at the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary and the Emerging Swiss Talent Award at the Zurich Film Festival and was screened among others at the Sundance Film Festival, Rotterdam, Gothenburg, Helsinki and Lincoln Center in N.Y. He is currently working on his new feature film project "DER WURF" in collaboration with the choreographers and performers Robert Stejin, Dana Michel, Lilach Livne and Linda Samaraweerova.
